With the demise of Winson and the apparent stagnation of Modelworks is anyone aware of any drawings being offered for sale for any of their locos. I know it's a long shot, but if they're not going to make any more kits it would be helpful to some of us to have detailed dimensions of parts which need remaking even if we intend to modify them. Yes the original parts could be measured up but it's not always that easy when working to thousanths of an inch, and the loco would have to be dismantled in order to do this.

Hi there, Have you tried the Engineers Emporium? I have just bought the instruction mannual for the 5" inch gauge Britannia. I understand that they also have the rights to the 9F as well - as I am also chasing this as well.

I think a lot of their models were based on established plans and then modified for small scale CNC production (mass-production in terms of model making!). If you know the plan the model is based on then that would probably act as a good guide for most parts.

There were never any dimensioned drawings for Winson kit Loco's,just isometric drawings and exploded diagrams to show which bit went where.

There will have been drawings at some point. Winsons were not that good with their CNC machines that they didn't need drawings.

The plans exist in the form of solidworks models. Winsons didn't produce any traditional drawings as it was never intended that the builders would need them. All the designs are taken from established models, your best chance is to acquire as set of the 'donor' model plans.

Soldiworks can produce conventional engineering drawings.

Yes, Solidworks produce conventional drawings. However Winson and Modelworks didn't use this functionality to produce drawings for distribution. Their customers didn't need them as in theory it was a fully machined kit. Hence the drawings are not available! They only way you will get drawings of the designed components is to locate the person who purchased the original IP when Modelworks folded and ask them if they are prepared to produce them for you.

Morning...
the only spanner i would throw into the works is that the drawings would be next to worthless.....
If they were any good then all the parts supplied from them would have fitted and worked .. ergo ... winson and then modelworks wouldnt have gone bust due to rubish kits ( i know first hand having spent nearly 12 years rebuilding and modifing a modelworks kit to get it finished )
and we wouldnt be in a position of half supplied kits like a lot of people are...
My sujestion would be to fine drawings from blackgate/reeves or another supplier and work from them

Morning...
Can i add my 2 penny worth to this....
I wouldnt bother... the drawings would be worthless.. if the drawings were any good then the parts made from them would be good and the kits would have worked and modelworks/winson would still be trading and none of us would be in this fix. my sugestion would be to source drawings from blackgate/reeves and the such and use them. I can speek from 12 years experiance trying to get my A4 finished.... i am using 5" drawings from Blackgates scaled up... so far i havnt found too many problems with this method other than material thicknesses.

Hi, as a new member I've just read your posting, I've also got a Baldwin in 71/4" I've been (re)building on and off for the last 8 years. If you let me have a list of what paperwork you want and I'll do you some copies.
