Hello While at the Bristol exhibition a couple of weeks ago I noticed that Reeves were selling some cast corner cladding to go around the back of the boiler for a Bridget. Now I happen to be looking for the same type of thing for my Conway and wondered whether there was any similarity in size. Does anyone have an outline drawing of the backhead of bridgets boiler or can give me the main dimensions? In case that doesn't make much sense, I'm looking to do something like the polished cladding around the corner here on Linda - home.comcast.net/~sufo3/uk1999/9908191548-NarrowGageRR-Linda.jpgCheers Dave

Hi Dave,
The boiler for Bridget appears to be a bit larger than that for Conway. The main dimensions of Bridget's backhead are: radius of top (outside of wrapper) = 2-1/2" and length of backplate from the boiler centreline is 5-1/8"giving a total height of 7-5/8". The drawings show 1/4" of insulation between firebox and cladding.

Dear Dave, One day when I get close to finishing my Hunslet I plan to make a press tool and mdf works well as I have in the past used it to press smpkebox doors from 1/16" steel plate. So for brass this should be no problem. the tip is to make it like a loose fitting door with curves all round the surround should be 3" wider all round. then with a press at your local garage make your brass backhead cover. the bit at the bottom stops it riding up. David.
