Whose loco were you driving Jim? Unfortunately I only saw you in passing, sorry I missed saying hello properly. I think I was driving my father-in-law's P class at the time. I found it required plenty of fire and a bit of draft the whole time because the Welsh coal seems to require that to get it to burn hot. Given those two things it steamed well and was easy to drive. We all still find great lumps of clinker on the grate after a few hours and it depends on the loco and driver how long you can go like that. I find the steaming in mine falls off a cliff after about 2.5 hours if I'm constantly hauling passengers. It's a saturated loco so it uses a lot of steam, so needs a lot of fire. G'day David, I wasn't driving any locos as I was too busy yakking to Bruce about beam engines and cutting bevel gears It was the charity day too so everyone was pretty busy and then we had to leave before the Christmas BBQ to get back here. Dave Proctor and his passengers stayed on though. Sorry I missed you.
Cheers
Jim.

Nice one Jim...any pictures or video to share?... you know how much we all love such things... It's great to see you posting on your loco again... Cheers Pete Thanks Pete but sadly I didn't think to take any photos though the loco was stationery but even so a photo of the fire would have been helpful. There will be photos next time.
Cheers Jim.
PS: at present I'm watching the weather radar trcking a major rainfall over one of the big fires to the south of Canberra and about 4.8kms from the ACT/NSW border. If it's as good as it looks it will do much to dampen down the fires and with luck include run off into one of the high country dams.

Hmmm that's interesting.
I've just been back through the thread to see if I had posted a photo of the completed ash pan I made for Boadicea and while I couldn't find a photo I was pleased to see the early Photo Bucket stamp had been removed and the photos were there as posted.

I'm thinking that there are strange things afoot on PB Jim. For the last few weeks I have been copying/pasting my thread to my new blog whilst editing it to read better, ie take out the cross chat that's the norm on a forum. In doing this I have had to search out the PB images on their site to download the original to remove their stamp. Now, while doing this today I noticed that some of the stamps had disappeared, stranger still, one batch which still had the stamp on as I copied it, when pasted in the blog those stamps had disappeared which saved me the time/hassle of finding the original. Very strange??

It is indeed odd. I suspect the backlash from previous contributors such as ourselves has been noted. Going through my PB Album I spotted some photos of the 3 chime whistle that had been lost from my computer so used "Grab" on my iMac to select and save to the desk top. A very handy app is Grab
We're so lucky to have this hobby to while away the time in self isolation.
Stay safe.
