IoM Locomotive

My good friend Romeo in Naples is trying to find details of the IoM 2-4-0 locos to look at making a 5" loco. Are there any drawings out there?

The guy is a one man industry turing out a loco in about 6-8 months as well as his day job of being a GP.
The group in Naples operates the only track in Italy which has regular public running. It's a short out and back but the setting is superb.

THere was a design called Pevril about in 5"gauge once but Icnat remember who stocked it at the moment.I will do a bit of research and get back to you

I too remember seeing it somewhere but internet searches have not thrown anything up so far.

Hi Adrian,

there is a photo of a 5" gauge IOM 2-4-0T 'Mona' at IMLEC 2000 on the front cover of ME issue 4127. It was built by Jim Woods from New Zealand to a design by Mike Casey but at the moment I can't find out any more details. I don't know if Mike published the design but according to the ME write up Jim met Mike on the island so may have got the drawings straight from him.

I found what I was looking for in Engineering in Minature from about 1995. 'Pevril -Born Again'. The castings and plans were avaialble from Ashdown Models ,Rose Cottage, Vinehall Road, Johns Cross, Robertsbridge East Sussex. Tel [phone] during office hours.
Wether or not this company still exists I do not know, the telephone number prefix has changed to 01580 but it may be worth a call unless anyone else on this board can confirm there existance.

Many thanks for the good information. At the moment Romeo is trying to find a GA of the loco just to evaluate. I will try and give Ashdown a ring but I have not heard of them for a while.
