Hi all I have just stumbled across news that Encanta media has been sold to Online publisher Magicalia. According to a press release they are to introduce web sites based around their nine titles including Model Engineer. Lets hope this does not cause problems for us. Further details may be found here - www.ukaop.org.uk/cgi-bin/go.pl/news/article.html?uid=1128Best wishes to you all Brian

Hmmm, Doesn't sound too promising to me. Looks like a case of an online magazine rather than a hard copy (much cheaper to produce). I notice the big wigs with Encarta seem to have landed plum jobs! Perhaps I'm just getting pessimistic in my old age. John

Well if they only go for electronic copies only they will be loosing my subscription. Whilst I regularly take my Model Engineers to bed with me for a good read: the computer will not be joining us!

If Model Engineer and perhaps Model Engineers' Workshop go on line I shall have to think about changing to Engineering In Miniature.

and I've just renewed my bloody subscription, after many doubts, ah well you win some you lose some. Hopefully it will eventually settle down and we might get our moneys worth once more. At the moment it seems pretty slim pickins

Got to say, being out of the UK for most of the last 3 years, I have only seldom managed to find a paper copy of ME, and only then at horrendous price (especially galling as UK prices are usually the same number of pounds as most things in Ireland are in yoyos).
what is even more upsetting is paying for paper copies of info available free at the "lathes" website.
That said, the letters page was always the most interesting and valuable part for me.
grumpy sod that I am....

Hi Keith
The funny thing about the lathes info in recent ME's is that the information was virtually repeated verbatim for the different models of the same lathe.....
