Hi guys - I have a Simplex to the original design and I'm thinking of building a Super Simplex. What I'm looking for is a source of construction details for a building stand. I've done a preliminary search for "locomotive building stand / rotisserie" but I have not found anything. I was wondering if anybody on here has any information on a suitable stand? - Thanks.... EDIT - I just noticed Derics thread on this so I'm just going to read that....

Hi John My best suggestion is to have a look at Dr John's web site ( www.dr-john.org/ ) in the Simplex section and crib his ideas and design. No construction drawings but plenty of pictures but if you are going to build a Simplex then the stand should not be difficult. I'm sure the good Dr will also chip in with more information if requested. This is exactly what I am going to do for the rebuild of my stripped down Simplex recently reunited with me in Kuala Lumpur after 10 years in storage in Sydney Australia. Good luck Kind Regards DaveT Kuala Lumpur

If you go to Topic: My current project NSW C 32 in general chat ,on page 3 at the bottom of the page you see my building stand , very simple , you make it in an afternoon , is adjustable for a range of engines ( I build over 20 engines on it of different sizes ) , it is mounted on a mobile stand on wheels , actually the body ( stand ) is an old oil heating tank , one side opened , its very cheap and reliable .

Thanks for the plug Dave. Hi Johnmiller As well as the pictures of my spit on my website, there is also a short video of how the getting on and off works at www.dr-john.org/movie/spit.wmvDJ

Hello DrJ
No problems wiyth the plig, I reckon if there is already a good way of doing something, stick to it, do not reinvent the wheel !!!
Having fun at the moment finding sources for metal in KL, went to Sungai Besi (Jalan Tiga - C&W) the only problem is they want to sell me 6m lengths of BMS so hopefully I can find somewhere that will sell shorter lengths.
Been a while since we last were in touch, any updates for the web site and the progress on the Black Five ?
Catch up by email soon.
Regards
