Hi all.
I'm trying to figure out how to attach the link rod pin to the cross heads on my Simplex.
It appears from the from the plans that it might be riveted onto the dropped portion of the cross head outer plate. Is that so? I don't see any reference to screws or bolts to hold it.

Having looked at the drawings and mag article I see your problem. The piece parts are shown with a no 31 hole and 5BA thread on the pin whilst the GA of the assembled crosshead shows the pin to be riveted into a countersunk hole. Checked my Simplex and whoever made it went for the riveted construction (with a nice big head, not flush like the drawing) and it works fine.

Thanks Peter. Counter sink and rivet it is then.

Hi Ron As you probably have already seen on my website, I milled the crosshead covers from solid rather than bending a bit of tin - that gave enough meat to thread the hole for the pin which then got loctited into place DJ Attachments:

John, I did as you did and milled it from solid. Stole it from you proudly.
However I riveted it as I hadn't seen your post til now.
Posting more pics soon.
