Guys,
Just bought castings for "Little Brother" hit and miss engine at the Thornbury exhibition last Friday. I've always wanted something like this but will now have to suspend all hobby related spending for a while.
Did a search here but didn't find anything. Has anyone here got any hints or tips on the thing?
Found a Youtube of this engine running then went on to find videos of starting up all manner of very big H&M engines. Fascinating.

You will probably get some better responses asking on HMEM or Smokstak model section I take it you bought the castings from Forrest who are now distributing the range that Linley now do including some of the Ex Breish Peters engines. I've done a couple of hit & miss engines so ask if you have any queries J

Jason,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I'm still at the stage of financial shock and looking at which end to start plus what else to go buy. Really, it'll be a project for the longer evenings.
And YES, t'was Forrest I bought it from. Seems they aren't too far from me.
I'll need to think about spark plugs and an HT supply before long.

Yes I know, old thread ...
Well, I started this thread way back in 2011 and its now 2023. Just found the little box of castings again but I'm stuffed if I can find the drawing set that came with.
A lot has happened since August 2011 and now is the time.
A very long shot but is there anyone here that still has a set of drawings for Little Brother AND is prepared forward a photo or two.
I have done a search and this engine is either out of stock or in the US. I never throw anything away but there are people around me that think they're helping and throw very useful or otherwise priceless stuff away for me.
Don't do anything yet, there are still a couple of places to look once I've remembered where they are. Like in Tesco when I can't find something and ask I'm usually standing right next to it.
My search continues ...

Having taken the place apart and found nothing I plonked down for a cup of tea and a rant at TV news.
From my new vantage point I spot an envelope wedged between two books in my bookcase. Result.
Thank you for your attention.

The best way to find your own answer is always to ask the question! Never fails...
Good luck with the build - my Quorn is in a similar "box of castings under the bench" state of build and I expect the drawings for that are in a box "somewhere"!

Must confess to having two sets of Quorn castings under the bench, they are “seasoning”, one day I will pluck up the courage to start machining them, it’s all the ball handles I have got to make that puts me off doing it.

Unlike the little brother which is what drew me to the thread the Quorn does not have to look like the subject so why follow the drawings to the letter and use ball handles, if you want it to actually use then what's wrong with Bristol Levers or something along those lines?

Makes much more sense really to use Bristol levers or similar, the thing will be used not sat on a shelf and admired and it will save hours of messing about trying to orientate the ball handles just right. Many thanks Jason.
