I'm currently building a 3 1/2 Doris using the LBSC drawings . I've started looking at the boiler construction and am after some advice.
The drawings do not show any kind of wrapper to go around the boiler to install cladding, what is the best approach to go for this missing element.
Are there any other boiler designs that I could use that include the above.
Being a newbe to boiler construction how is the best way to join the tapered boiler tube together (overlap, dovetail or other).
Thanks in advance

LBSC didn't usually bother with boiler cladding and just painted the bare copper. Joining the tapered barrel will need a butt strap; although a dovetail joint would be permissible, getting it right if you're a novice would be a Big Problem.
IIRC you need to look at the arrangement of the boiler tubes; I'm sure that if you make the tubeplates to his drawings you end up with the tubes touching each other.
I suppose looking at Don Young's Saint Christopher boiler might be a help - they're probably not a million miles away from each other.

Do you or can you point me in the direction of the boiler drawings.
Thanks

It is also permissable to have the joint Tig welded, subject of course to all the usual "welding" requirements.
