That's great news Pete and another step completed towards finishing your boiler.

Great news now its time to bite the bullet and get that gas torch fired up. You know you've got to do it sometime. We're all waiting to see a boiler in assembly and its been 16 months since the first cut of copper.
... but please get the camera sorted first

Gosh - has it been tht long! More lack of time for ME than anything else though. To keep Pete (Doubletop) and all you others happy here are some gratuitous photos Back Firebox plat/wrapper join. The s/s has gone right through but I need to touch up the fillet in one area. Front Firbox plate and fire tubes. Boiler Barrel and throat plate. Smoke Box front and location ring, Smoke box - initial construction Teaser shot - the height of the smoke box needs reducing here but gives a feel for the finished boiler

Great stuff!! you've made that leap.
Before you go any further think about the holes for the bushes. You don't want to do then after the tubes or firebox are in place. One slip as the copper picks up and the possibility of damage, As well as needing to work out where the crown stays go between the bushes.
You'll also need to be careful as the copper will be soft from the annealing

Can I also suggest that you get the bushes in sooner rather than later. I did mine at the end and it was the cause of me chasing leaks as what I though were perfectly good joints parted slightly when I applied the heat for the bushes. Whereas the joints for the bushes are relatively stable so will stay good while you are doing the tricky bits like the inside of the firebox and foundation ring.
I had left mine to later as I had thought the bushes could be affected by the heat. I was then advised that wasn't the case, unless they aren't bronze. Then they deserve to melt.
