I am building 5" gauge Speedy. I have got to the smoke box rivets. The question is. What size should they be? 1/16" or 3/32". Can anyone help on this one?

If it is 5"G I would be using 1/16 rivets , 3/32 will be too big to my way of thinking . I haven't built a Speedy but a few other English locos and they all called for 1/16 size . You would get more response if this thread was in general chat .

I just happen to have the drawings for 'Paddington' which is the 7.1/4" version of the 15XX class. The smokebox drawing calls for 5/64" rivets, so 1/16" rivets on a 5" model are about right.
A 1/16" rivet scales up to about 3/4" diameter full size, which again seems about right. By the way, there are 56 rivets around the circumference!

Hi I don't know where it came from but I have print out of a Spread Sheet which came off the web many years ago. I laminated it and it has hung in the workshop ever since. I am sure someone out there will know were it is on the web?
