My 'Enterprise' boiler passed it's initial hydraulic test today 'hooray',and this got me thinking that I had better aquire some injectors for it. Has anyone any comments on what capacity I should be looking at? Grate area is just under 14 sq ins. 3 cylinders 1 3/8 bore by 2 1/4 stroke. Two injectors and a Hand Pump. All comments welcome

Following full size practice my 3 1/2" RUSSELL has one large and one small injector. The large is 1 1/4 pint a miunte and the small is 3/4 pint a minute. Both are more than big enough to compete against steam production and useage.
I tend to use the 1 1/4 pint most as it picks up a treat every time, and the steam cock is in an easier place to use. It also picks up at about 35/40 PSI right up to 90PSI.
I have been told Blackgates supply some of the best injectors you can get...
Make sure you pipe the over flow to a point you can see, as when you are running you will not hear if it has picked up or not, but be careful not to shoot jets of steam or boiling water horizontal for 4 feet towards the waiting public etc...

the best injectors you can get are Gordon Chivertons, so good Polly usually have a waiting list for them. As Nexuas says fit a small and a large which is what I have done. I would try a 24oz and a 16 oz myself.

Thanks for the replies guys. Is there anything written on the subject. Martin Evans doesn't specify in either his book, or the ME articles on the construction of 'Enterprise' Regards Ian
