Dear Rob,
If you dont mind waiting, I am part way through the design of the 517 in 5" gauge, see photos in the Prairie section. As you will know the auto tank was designed from these in the 1930's. They are so much simpler and would make a lovely model if scaled up to 7 1/4". Plus my drawings are very much better, and constantly checked against progress, and being in pencil can be altered instantly.
David Scott.

I've got a full set of the drawings here that have been marked up in some places by someone who built one.
I bought the drawings in a fit of enthusiasm but it is very unlikley I will build it so if anyone wants to make me a reasonable offer for the drawings...

I do know the safety valve bush is about 3/4" too far back. I've enlarged the GA drawing from issue 1 in the ME and it is drawn correctly but he got it wrong on the boiler drawing. It needs to be 1 row of crown stays further forward. All photos I've seen of a Dart show a safety valve bonnet to close to the cab. I'm doing one but I've got works drawings for the 14xx so will be redrawing the whole thing and producing my own CAD drawings for it. The NRM have the GA but Didcot have a long list of available works drawings. I will have some castings for sale as I bought castings before deciding to redraw it, most are 'wrong' for a true scale 14xx. Only ones I may use are the wheels and cylinders. Simon

Some of the drawing errors are listed at: www.alanstepney.info/page46.htmlMy "Dart" is languishing under the bench as a collection of parts right now, but I can say that when finished they run well.
