Can anyone point me to a supplier of brass bolts/screws in metric sizes - specifically I need M5 which seems to be beyond the range of most suppliers. I can get them from a local hardware merchant but they're a bit rubbish.

Depends how far you want to look. A good quality tool merchant (try the yellow pages) usually has a good range. If that gives no joy there are a few specialist companies in Germany. One useful product they do is domed head screws without the slot. Great for simulating rivets. If you get no joy in the UK let me know.

RS do a bag of 100 Brass CSK M5 16mm for £4.47 +pp + VAT. They are not cheap, but I expect they do most of what you want. In terms of availability and delivery they are what everyone else aspires to be (I have found!) rswww.comSearch on Brass M5 CSK etc You never know, one of these days we may even go fully metric in this country - we are never quite sure, so we can buy a piece of wood 5cm x 2cm x 5 ft long! Regards, Tony.
