I have searched the usual sources such as the web and catalogues for attachments, accessories and modifications to the Axminster BV20M lathe but so far have not found anything. Does this mean that the lathe is near perfect? I understand that many of these machines have been sold. John

Colin,
Thanks for the link.
It seems that there are several versions of this lathe available, all much the same. most likely the various accessories are interchangeable.

Dear Modeleng,
Dont even think about buying a lathe from Axminster, or for that matter Arc Euro trade who have been told by the Chinese factory to stop offering in and out of box options etc. I still deal with the above companies through orders from work. Now the best place to buy from is either Chester or as said Warco if you want a green one. What happens is that in the factory just outside Shanghi, all the parts ie; 4 jaw chuck steadies tailstock chuck etc are packed with the machine to be sold with it. Of course to make more money Axm and Arc sell all these seperately. I am saving up for the slightly larger one to be bought from Chester. Oh and they are all variable speed.
David Scott.

David,
Thanks for the advice. I'll certainly look closely at what the various companies offer. Warco is not very far from where I live.

It seems that once you add the cost of the accessories to the basic Axminster price you end up with about the same figure as say, that which Warco charges.
A benefit of buying from a company where the basic machine price is quoted is that you can choose which extras you prefer to have. The Chinese drill chuck I had with my present lathe is not very accurate.
Thanks to everyone for their input to my question.
