The wise counsel of our esteemed membership is sought! I'm about to start making the regulator for 46222, been looking at the drawing and decided to have a go at a poppet valve version, rather than the slide valve, as specified. Has anybody got experience of this type of regulator? I've seen then described in mags and in the Winson section of this site. Are they as good as they seem to be? Waggy.

The standard regulator valve on the Sweet Pea is a poppet type. There are so many of those about they can't be all that bad. I guess the more care you take in making it, the better it will seal.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply. I was beginning to think my post was invisible, not often nobody replies!
I've thought even more about the design change, got enough room to make a small / large port reg. I intend to use PTFE seats and stainless valves. It will be an interesting exercise, thats what were about, ain't it?

Waggy,
Go for it! If it works, tell us all so we can all benefit.
If it doesn't, still tell us all so we know not to try!
I reckon you learn more from the things that go wrong than those that go perfectly.
