Is any one going to the Guildford show? I will be there again today.
The ground yesterday was firm and a number of the traders are already up and running. I picked up a couple of bargains ;D. It should be good.

Hoping to go tomorrow (Sunday) from Cambridge with my mate Mike - but will wait and see what the weather looks like before setting off.
It is one of my favourite shows of the year, as I love the traction engines as much as locos.
Regards, A

Hi
Went today (Saturday) with a couple of other Welling & District members. We arrived at 10:45. Field was a little muddy and GMES teams were spreading tree-bark chippings - especially in the entrance to the car-park (the one on Stoke Park as the one across the road didn't seem to be in use).
Good exhibition of models. A few of the previous "regular traders" (eg Warco, Chronos and Reeves) were not present and CES had to have thei stock of metal up by the club-house as it would have sunk their trailer in the mud.
Spent £50.00 on three bits of bronze (1" dia x 6", 3/8 AF hex x 12" and 1/4" AF hex x 12") and bit of 3/16 dia x 10" Stainless rod from CES.
Rain was on-and-off throughout the morning - sometimes heavy - with traders suchh as Blackgates having to drop the walls on their tents to proterct stock whilst us "punters" squeezed inside to keep (relatively) dry.
Saw a few other Welling members and other "friends" - all of whom were in various states of mud-splatter or wetness.
By 13.00 when my group of three had agreed to meet for lunch, the ground was getting a little "mud-soupish" in places and definitely squelchy in others.
We agreed we'd all seen everything we needed to, had spent all our HEC on goodies and were worried about getting out of the car-park , so decided to wend our way home. The entrance to the car-park was more "mud-soup" to walk through, so going at 13:00 was, probably, a good move.
Overall, still worth the visit but not as good as previous years.

I have been there all day Saturday and will be there all day today with the family and the demonstration stand. We had a bit of a panic to start the day as on the first treadle of the lathe the feet sank in to the waterlogged ground but we managed to pack it up and spread the load so that work could continue. Models wise seems slightly less than last year but still a nice spread across all disciplines. Seems to be many more stationary and IC engines this year. Traders wise is a bit thinner on the ground possible due to the possibility of trucks bogging down. Still managed to spend the holiday money though. The car park in Stoke park was passable and chips were on hand but I did not see anyone having trouble getting out. Numbers seem to be down but I guess that is due to the weather

I went by train on Saturday which was a little fraught - London very busy due to "Wireless Festival" - not the kind Alan might go to but some sort of gig in Hyde Park, attractive to teenagers. Virgin Trains performed consistently in that I had to stand to Euston. Wimbledon was on the route too. However, my experience of the show was much the same as houstonceng, although I did not see him, even with my badge proudly displayed. Very squidgy underfoot but a reasonable turn-out and I thought the organisers did very well. Nice selection of locos and the sun did shine sometimes. There was a clash with the Hollowell Steam Rally this weekend which probably reduced numbers, but it is difficult to avoid, given the following steam has. I enjoyed the day - what more to hope for? Pictures here. May take a while to load and subject to the arty-crafty limitations of the photographer. Just in case you are wondering, it is a Wimshurst Machine.

My daughter and I went on Sunday.....would love to see that P1 going and play with all the toys Yes, me too. I thought the P1 was outstanding in detail and it was good to see something rarely modelled. Looks like the weather was better on the Sunday. Your pictures show "Princess Alice." She appears several times in a video I took at one of the running days at Guildford last year here on You Tube

Just for those who missed the show here is a picture of the major item on display over the weekend, the rain. This was just outside the tent at the top of the site. In the rally field it was deeper, such a shame. Attachments:
