H hope someone can help, is there an easy way to set the valves on my 1400 i have read and re read the winsons directions but i dont get it, does anyone have a rough idea of where to set things so that i can get the thing going and i can fine tune from there. at the moment i have set both valve roughly half way up the rods and equal to each other, when i put air in it it blows out through the exhausts but no wheel movement, also how free running should the motion axle be? many thanks in advance Dave

hi dave, im sorry you havent had a response so far. i dont know anything about the winsons 14XX valvegear, but if you can supply a few pics of same im sure we can help. need to know whether it is valves between the cylinders, or underneath with rocker arms, and what type of expansion link (loco or launch) and where the weighshaft is positioned. cheers, julian

Hi,I've been away so hadn't noticed this until tonight. On my Winson 1400 the valve gear did not go together as well as it might and setting the timing seemed to a bit of a hit and miss affair. However it does run on air,so something must have gone right. As Julian has said if you can supply a few photos we might be able to figure it out for you.
