Would anybody have a drawing for a tumbler type reverse gearbox that would be of use in a petrol locomotive? I have tried a google search and it has given me very little, Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike, If you wish to go the other route and purchase one, a good tumbler gearbox can be found inside the leg* of a marine outboard motor. It has forward, reverse and neutral. Quite a few people in my club use these in their locos. Andrew * not sure if that's the correct word. The part that sticks into the water

The part that sticks into the water As a boatie as well..that the right word You can get bits from scrapped outboards for next to nothing, or buy a dead one..very cheap, but the F-N-R is likely to be ok. As another source, whats on the headstock end of your lathe? There is usually a tumbler reverse on a traditional BGSC lathe. Spare gears and carriers for that, plus a fabricated frame?? Regards, John
