Guys
Is there any way that the order of the messages in a thread can be selected as "Latest First" ?
I "subscribe" to the Institute of Engineering and Technology Discussion Groups, and my profile there allows me to select "Lastest First" or "Earliest First".
I find it especially helpful since I don't have to flip to page N in order to read the last posting of 148+ in some of the popilar threads.
Of course, the threads are still displayed as "latest to be posted to first" as per this group.

Not 100% sure, but I dont believe that it can be changed. Andy is the authority on this though and may be able to give a definitive answer.

Like Alan has mentioned before hand. I believe that this question has been raised before and I am affraid to say had the same answer. Although like the original author would find it useful if they were reversed.

Hi,
It would certainly be useful, though hadn't thought of it before!
Chris.

Yep, I agree, all the other forums I use have a user definable option in which you can set the order you view posts within threads. I have just assumed it must be a limitation with the engine used to produce this forum.

Just click the page numbers! For example the thread entitled 'Can't get hot enough to solder' has two pages - click '2' beneath it's title then page down or drag down the scroll bar.

Hi All Whilst I agree that it would be good to see the latest/most recent post first on a thread, a lá microsoft outlook etc. I sometimes feel that it is harder to follow, as you are 'going back in time' so to speak. Maybe it's just me ? Also, unless it is a 'user defined option' the moderators might find as many in favour of leaving things as they are! Not a great deal of help I know, but a different view? Cheers Brian

Totally agree with you that it shouldn't be set by the moderator. I was thinking of a user set option as per the IET Discussion Groups and others.
It doesn't suit everyone, but I'm used to that order and find it frustrating when I can't have it on other groups.
