Hello chaps, First of all, thanks to all who replied to my original post. I said that when the weather improved and I could venture outside for some steaming I'd get back with the results. Over the last couple of days the loco has been steamed and blown down quite a number of times, with the result that the water in the gauge glass is now behaving itself! It seems that the idea of flux residue needing to be cleared was almost certainly the answer. Thanks again, Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- thanks for coming back to us with the latest info.. Great news....now get it finished and out on the track, pulling a train !!! Best wishes------

It's already had several goes up and down my friend's back garden track. Christening is scheduled for next Friday, when grandson no. 2 (aged 3) is coming over for a ride. Grandson no.1, who is 12, is far too cool to be seen doing anything so childish, but I bet that when he sees the video of his brother enjoying himself, he'll be bitten too. After that, it's off down to the local club for its boiler ticket and some serious thrashing by self and geriatric pals on the continuous track.
Toot toot, all! ;D
