Without being rude that sounds being very retarded! Why can they not accept the Winsons boiler? Its built to PSSR standards so it should be fine! What you're basically saying, is that no-one over there can have a model of a big mainline UK engine with out significantly reducing the water capacity and lowering the boiler pressure to a point its not worth running? How do you get on with Traction Engines of any decent scale?
Mind you, I could say the same about the UK acceptance of stainless boilers.....

Hello PETER-------- I'm so sorry to read about the trouble you would have with the Britannia boiler over there...... and after all that effort and help as well !!---------Given the situation that you find yourself in I'm sure you've made the correct decision not to carry on along this particular route...I wish you well in your search for a completed locomotive.............. It's also made me re-think my boiler designs for my Great Bear............

I would love to build, but a boiler that isnt steam tested will be difficult to get certified...

What if the boiler was already steam tested in the uk? What if you were to buy an engine from the uk that already had a certificate, say for example 3 years 2 months of hydraulic remaining, and a new steam ticket of 12 months....would you be allowed to have that over there?

Hello Chaps------ Yes, that would give a "Cannon Axlebox" effect.. On full size locos if the trailing axle passes through the ashpan then there is usually a shield built in to deflect any radiant heat .... We forgot to replace the one on Hagley Hall once---just caught it in time !!!! ---

Ok so silly thought, retain existing copper boiler, finish building loco, have it tested and certified in the UK, then present for retest back home......its already had 12months under steam test..whats the problem....

next saturday i´m going to see the 9F that stationroad steam has for sale. It needs some cosmetical atention but technicaly its optimised with CNC valvegear. Never run, so might need some work getting it running, but shoudnt be a problem. hi peter, a lovely looking loco... however i suspect 'all that glistens isnt gold', and you have quite a lot of work in store. just 'coz a loco has a £100 set of etched nameplates doesnt mean it will be a good reliable loco. i noticed the piston rod fixed with a single roll pin...urgh!! that's a complete strip down in my book for a start. the boiler is already out of certificate too...though it was never technically 'in certificate' without a steam test certificate. the shade of green is wrong too! i hope i am proved wrong and you have many happy hours of steaming enjoying your new purchase. cheers, julian

i know it has some work to be done. My club boiler inspector was also with me when i was going to stationroad steam. He checked the engine and told me it was a good engine to start with. I will fix all the fittings etc that are leaking, make it a reliable steamer, and after that i will give it a new paint next winter. Thanks for the info
