The hole in the recess is the steam admission to the front of the cylinder, from the piston valve above. It is drilled at 4mm I believe. Rob.

Yes thats correct Rob, but they have drilled an extra 3mm hole next to it, i think to try and solve the problems that modelworks have being asmetic. I was wondering if there is anyone that knows if this is enough and done the right way. Do you have any experience with this?
Paul, there is a snifting valve fitted, this pipe starts at the end of the superheater and ends with a check valve behind the smoke deflector.
Thanks,
Peter

Looks very good to me , I built a few and paint is one job I don't like to do , no matter how many books one reads and advice one gets , it still require a lot of patience and maaaaany steps that I seem to fail achieving . Your engine is painted and looks good , happy steaming soon .

Nice, looking very workmanlike in black, ideal for a 9F

Yes i like it much more now its black, it looks more like the 9F like they were in service. Especialy after i used it a few times and it gets al greasy and covered with coal dust.
Btw, your engine looks realy nice to! Maby this summer im comming over to swiss to the vappeur parc.

I got some spare, but im afraid its not enough..and the wife wouldnt be to happy if DHL stops in front of the door to deliver it. I was thinking about naming it Black Prince, but there are already quite a few around... how about this one: www.scot-rail.co.uk/photo/scaled/9455/

No problem! i think it is quite a good mixed traffic engine, only you dont need to be in a hurry, and i''m not so no problem haha But what about the name, it was used on other engines to, but i have never seen a Cock o the North 9F in scale model.
