I was looking through the Chronos online catalouge & saw a laser center & edge finder, but since you just put it in a collet or chuck I don't see much difference between that & the piece of pointed silver steel that I use.
I've never bothered with a 'sticky pin type finder' as if I am using an ER collect I don't see that it would make any difference, but I suppose that if you are using a chuck with runout a sticky pin would find the centerline better. So what's the point of spending about £50 on a laser which in effect is exactly the same as my bit of silver steel?, am I missing something?. I am not an experienced machinist so please feel free to pick holes in my arguement. Regards Cardiff Pat.
