Hi Hans, I suspect that this may be one of the various makes that I inspected back at the Midlands show. My opinion of the general standard of the new cheap taps/dies was so high that I brought a second hand one. The general problem I observed was that whilst the dies had threads, the threads had not been deburred . I also noted that there is a variation in the numbers of cutting faces/width of cutting faces on these new cheap manufacturers. Jo

Hi Jo,the set i bought is actually quite an old set, maybe 30 or more yrs old.It IS complete, though i don't know if all the bits are original. It's in a wooden box, which looks to be well kept. Oh well, fingers crossed till next weeks post arrives.

Hi Hans,
I have just checked through my dies and cannot see any by toga, a few totem (I think Tracy tools used to sell those back in the early 90's), so sorry can't help.
I got a very nice Britool 0-10Ba tap set (set of three of each even sizes) for a fiver the other year so you could be lucky...

Famous brand m8 , very good quality. Not exactly sure who made them but I think they were in Sheffield . Many cheap drill and Tap and Die sets are carbon steel not HSS , best to check . I recently bought a bargain HSS drill set made in China , the cutting edges were ground at different angles !

Toga are quality, you will not be disappointed providing they are new and not abused. Totem as mentioned are good, as are Britool. Toga are not available as new stock I think, just as well greased and packaged old stock. Perhaps they went bust, I have not seen any adverts for 10 years or so. John

Toga were around in the 60's and I believe date from many years before that.
Havent seen them for sale in the past, well, many years so I suspect they are part of Britains vanished engineering industry.
