I am considering a Tich Belpaire boiler (2 5/8" barrel and 2" door), but I thought a large Tich boiler (3” barrel) smokebox may be useful because of the larger (2 1/2”) door and giving a bigger step down from smokebox to the boiler diameter for a decent wrap of cleading; the existing design just has a smokebox push fit on the barrel, giving no scope for cleading. Is there a problem in putting a larger smokebox on than the design (3 3/16” compared with 2 3/4”) with a view to the draughting – as far as fitting is concerned, I would use a standard smokebox/barrel ring.
Thanks, Dave
