I'm a new member, but have lurked around looking at whats going on for some time, the group looks to get some interesting strings going, and the level of help and support looks to be great
So, first very elementary question from me is.

What's a 'karma'

Nothing to do with curry I assume, possibly nothing to do with being passive either

I don't know about a formal definition - I think it's to do with mystic Indian stuff - but on this site it's a kind of score of how the other listers view you. So if you thought someone had answered a particular query well or "done the decent thing" in some way, you can increase or decrease their karma by "smiting" to decrease or "exulting" to increase. There are limits to how often you can do this, and you can't exult yourself
