I am wondering if anyone has heard from Dr John ( a well known contributor) since typhoon Hayian hit the Philipnes, where he lives? He lives on the island of Bantayan which was right in the path of the typhoon from what I can see. Any news would be most welcome. Praying for his safety, Nigel

I'm very happy to report that I've heard from Dr John recently and although his house, garden and track suffered quite a bit of damage from typhoon Hayian, he and his family are all safe and well. He reckons it will take several years to get everything back to normal.
Luckily his Simplex only suffered minor paintwork damage but there is quite a bit of work to be done to get his track back into a useable condition, so he won't be steaming for a year or two, he reckons.
Great news that they are all safe.

John's put some photos of the damage on his website. Pretty horrendous!
