I have acquired a size "B" injector sold by Steam Age (London) which is stamped "D&S B 26", and packed with a card dated August 1986. I wondered if anyone could help me verify what delivery rate this model might have? All inlets/outlets are for 1/4" tube. Would this one be 26oz/min delivery perhaps?

Hi, I would expect that a 1/4" pipe size injector would deliver upwards of 53oz/min 2 & 2/3 pints/min. Maybe your the pipe fittings are generous and 26oz/min is correct.
Injector manufacturers that I am aware of are John Cashmore (JC), Gordon Chiverton (GC) and Jubilee.

That sounds to be the equivalent of a number 5 in more common, if there is such a thing, terminology.
So it would be as Mountaineer suggests, 53 oz a minute or thereabouts.
They all do their own thing with regard to coding, best to try it before worrying, there are many duds around and few reliable suppliers.
Regards,
John

You could try an email to the Jonathan Minns at the Brighton Engineerium as JM used to run Steam Age about then, and he has /had an excellent memory so may recall all about them.
Dont have the email address to hand, but a search will find it.

Alan, Re Jon. Minns, excellent suggestion, I have done so. Mountaineer and John, I am trying to select a pair of injectors for a 2X TICH from the J-C range and since I had this injector in hand I was trying to use it to gauge as nearly as practical a body size vs delivery rate. I want a sufficient delivery rate yet not have a body size that looked too large or too small on the TICH.

Hi Harry,
I've looked back through ME and found an old Steam Age advert in 1984. They list three sizes of injector - A, B, and C. Type B is listed as an output of 80-120 ozs (4-6 pints) per minute. with 1/4" pipe. I think the 26 relates to the TPI of the threads i.e. 7/16"x26T. Hope that helps,
John

What experience has anyone with the Reeves "International" injectors, and fittings for that matter, which a chum tells me are patterned after the J-C injectors? Surprisingly, for Reeves, the prices appear to be competitive.
