It would appear that the internet supplier of chemicals "The Chemical Shop" has been closed down. I'm contemplaiting trying some aluminium anodizing but don't wish to pay Frost Auto £62 for their kit Does anyone know of an alternative supplier of sulfuric acid and nitrc acid via mail order or similar. regards Jack

HS Walsh in Beckenham and Hatton Garden list both and supply stuff by distance selling. I'm not sure if that applies to strong acids. They may be wary of a new customer placing an order for significant amount of nitric acid in view of its other uses. The web page is www.hswalsh.com/

Your local chemist will supply either if you ask nicely and you know them. They will not have it in stock but they can get it.
The usual ME suppliers can also supply sulphuric.
Internet ordering has of course been clamped down on because of the "climate of fear" propogated by the government and the media. They potentially supply explosive material if you mix (unintentional pun) and match the various chemicals offered.
Regards,
John

I bought some acetone from my local chemist - no trouble. They may well ask you why you want it; I just said engineering and they seemed happy enough.
