Can anyone tell me what module number of gear cutters one would need to make a gear set for a 1" metric minnie. I have the plans but after looking several times I can't find that information. I have been told that the imperial gears will work, but I can't find what set I would need to do them either.
We are thinking of doing two of the engines.
Cheers,
Tom

Unless you start moving the shaft positions around or make custom gear cutters you won't be able to use metric gears as the shaft centres are direct conversions from the imperial dimensions.
For example the 3rd shaft to rear axle is given as 66.7mm which is actually 2 5/8" which works out fine with the 20DP gear size of teh imperial engine but to keep things in the same place you would have to use 1.27MOD gears when the nearest off the shelf cutters or ready cut gears will be 1.25MOD
All the gears are 20DP and the number of teeth are given on the parts list on drawing number 3 of the metric drawings. to cut them you would need number 2, 3, 4,5 and 6 cutters
Also don't try and use bolts from inside the boiler a sit shows as you will never get the cylinder to fit over them
You would do well to buy the book on building the Minnie whether you opt for metric or imperial

Thanks Jason.
I knew about the bolts from inside the boiler thing and I have seen the number of teeth on each gear. It was the 20 dp size I was wanting ... thank you! My friend has a book on the minnie apparently but I don't know which one he has.
Cheers,
