Came across this on a classic car site, it's a new one on me, anyone heard of one? Sounds a bit like a solid roll pin, or at least it does the same job as one. Ron

Possibly another name for the safety locking clips on bonnets of rally cars? looks a little like the pin on a grenade. John.

I found this description
...this pin is called a "Mills Pin" and is slightly tapered with straight flutes or knurling on it to prevent it coming loose.

I should have mentioned they are used in older car engines - possibly in the rocker shaft assembly.
