I recall an article in 'Model Engineer', possibly in 'Smoke Rings', in an issue which I think appeared in the late 1940's/early 1950's.
It involved an American 'cub' newspaper reporter interviewing a retired Engineer (Driver), and goes roughly along these lines:-
Reporter starts by inviting Mr. Pury to tell him about the wreck of the old 97. There follows a long monologue using every bit of Railroad terminology imaginable (tallowpot, back shop nut splitters, and so on), and more unimaginable.
The reporter thanks him for relating the tale to him, and Mr. Purdy replies, "Hold on son, I haven't got her out of the shed yet!"
The question is, does anyone know as to which issue of 'ME' that this appeared in?

And if they do, can they get a copy of it online?
