Hello.
A friends boiler which was purchased with a under construction 5" Gauge SR 2-6-0 “Ashford” project in New Zealand was pressure tested and failed at 110 psi.
We are dubious about the boiler as we have no history and the repair may be impossible so I am investigating on his behalf the purchase of a new CE built boiler.
We have options to either build a new boiler from scratch here or purchase a certified boiler ready to go.
Can I ask if any engine builders who have built an 5" Ashford with the Bellapire boiler can suggest a boiler maker for this particular model?
It is not the most common engine I believe but in this instance is there a particular boiler making company that would have a set of formers from a previous build?
I see LYNX Models advertise this boiler but it looks like it is built for them by an outside company.Anyone haveknowledge of this?
Any help would be appreciated.

Julian.
I had read about Lynx but did not want to make any false accusations as I thought they had sorted things.
I will talk to Cheddar as they list Ashford and they are at the top of my list with a few other boiler makers. I have two Cheddar boilers on my purchased models so am biased, I admit that but the others are equally as good I expect.
Maybe my friend just puts a deposit down and saves his Kiwi dollars as I expect it would be a 8-10 month delivery, plus carriage to New Zealand.
Piece of mind is worth every pound as I expect materials alone will be quite some hundreds alone plus jointing materials.
Thanks for the information Julian.
