If your interested in meccano, and who isn't, then a visit to the Eiffel Tower is an absolute must. This must be the worlds biggest building kit.
Unfortunately the queues are rather long. Walk up to the second level then take the lift to the top.
I'm just back from a week in Paris and of all the cities I've been to, it is by far the nicest. Lots of open spaces and beautiful buildings.
Providing you've got good walking shoes then you can do most of the classic sights on foot.
We also visited the science museum, out near the Stad de Franc, but to be honest it leaned too much towards interactive education rather than artefacts of prior ages. Maybe I went to the wrong place !
Have a nice time Jack

Thank you. Looks like not much of interest then. I shall just have to sit in a pavement cafe and watch the world go by!

The Musee de l'Air is pretty good, out at Orly. The Paris Metro is worth a look in its own right. On Sunday mornings I have seen model boats on the pond at the Luxembourg Gardens (where the Three Musketeers used to go for their duels), although this was many years ago (the boats, I mean, not just the duels). And while you're on the Left Bank, there are plenty of restaurants to visit.
As they used to sing on the Goon Show, "April in Paree...." Wish I was going myself.

Not ME I know, but the Opera and Blvd Housseman is interesting to see. Those lamp posts are a nice bit of casting!
If you really have noting to do later in the day, you could call in at the Folies Bergère. Purely for scientific curiosity of course.

Paris is not short of good places to eat, but I always got to: 'Aux Charpentiers'. www.bestrestaurantsparis.com/restaurant-paris/detail/aux-charpentiers.htmlApart from good food at reasonable(ish) prices there are weird and wonderful apprentice carpenter models (and many more photos) to examine while you munch away. A good mix of nice tucker and semi-ME items to look at. MM

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately my computer went down on Thurs evening and remained so until I got back on Sunday night, so I missed a lot of the replies until I returned. Oh.. and the son did it in 3h38mins. pretty good for a first try!
