Hello All, Do to some health issues, I have not been around here much. I didn't get too far with the Juliet2 build as I lost interest ... Same with Rob Roy. The castings for those two projects are under the bench for the foreseeable future. Tomorrow I am inheriting a Britannia that is in theory about 50% done. I have only seen two small pics of the current state of it ... I will know more about it when I get it home. My questions ... I see there are some 55 named engines in this class. Are they all generally the same? Where they more or less the same color (except the Territorial Army one)? Any major differences in the running gear ... hardware ... tender? This is a way larger engine than I had planned on, but, it is just too good to refuse. I will see which plans were used and then go looking for listed errors. The chassis is not quite to the air running stage and the boiler is a shell at this point. Nothing has been painted either. The build is apparently around 35 years old now so I am thinking that the best thing for me to do might be to photograph, document, draw diagrams, take totally apart, and then paint the chassis and start the assembly back to where it is now. It seems that would give me some knowledge of the machining quality, how it all works and goes together, and if any small bits were left out to be done "later". Am I even close to being on the right path? Cheers Tom OOOOps Looks like this is totally the wrong place ... can it be moved to the General, General inquiries please.

Hi Tom This article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BR_Standard_Class_7 will answer some of your general questions. The book by David Clarke, the second in the list of references at the end of the Wikipedia article, is a good source of information on the detailed differences between different examples at different stages of their lives. Is this a 5" or 3.5" gauge model? The lack of slide bars around the valve crosshead suggests the latter. Kind regards, John

Hi John
Sorry, yes, it is a 3 1/2" model.

For a Moderator ... I put this in the wrong place and I am not sure where it should be. This won't be a build thread but will likely expand as I get more questions.
Cheers
Tom
