Hi Adam, Those are just lovely!!
Having just had to pull my regulator to sort out why it wouldn't close, it looks very similar to yours! I don't have the o-rings & like you had issues getting the valve out, got it in the end, needed to close the regulator & unscrew the nut bit & repeat! The next issue is putting it back in! I found that screwing the "nut" on would lock thing up solid, figured out that I needed to "close" the regulator to move the valve out a bit screw the nut on a bit more, & repeat...….hope that makes sense! I also found that the anti rotation tag had very small burs on it, it also had sharp corners, some very careful filing improved things greatly, I also noticed that the slot in the nut for the anti rotation tag had burrs along the thread & the open end once again careful filing made better still. The face of the valve had a ring mark where it sealed, I could just feel it with my finger nail, so in the lathe & 400 worn wet & dry until it disappear & I now have a sealing valve! The next move would have been pulling the smokebox end of the regulator tube & I wasn't looking forward to that!
Cheers Kerrin

Hi Adam, great to see your progress, I have been tinkering with my unfinished 3F “Jinty” just lately but once the brake valve for 92167 is available, I intend carrying on with it by conducting a steam test, before refitting the cab etc. I haven’t done much to it since July last year as you can probably tell by the inactivity of my thread on its overhaul!
Cheers Don

Don, you keep working on that Jinty and I won't feel the pressure as much! The brake valve is at the forefront of my mind whenever I go in the workshop don't worry, it will come to life very soon!

A lot of talk on injectors at the moment which is great to see, as I posted a couple of weeks ago my man John had been working on our Beta prototype of the 5" 10x injector. Over the last few days he's been doing odd bits here and there on the first pair and today the boiler was lit....I'll let the videos do the talking. The two injectors all finished ready for the test boiler. 55865307_326673468197009_2808405194172268544_n by Adam Cro, on Flickr First test... 10x prototye 2 by Adam Cro, on Flickr Second test to show lifting ability. 10x Injector Prototype by Adam Cro, on Flickr The next step will be to get all this drawn up from Johns workings and get a 3rd test casting done to the new design before I have a go at making the cones myself and trialling one here. The point to note about these injectors are there is no hinged valve or ball check valve in the design at all...this I think calls for some grease top hat eating....Julian I'll ready the knife and fork! I also managed a couple of hours in the workshop finishing the machining on the 7 manifolds, these are now put to one side until the final castings arrive so I will move onto cleaning and painting the gearboxes. Hopefully more progress soon, Adam

excellent progress Adam...is this similar to 4472's two types, what I mean is can similar internals be used for scale Davies and Metcalfe No. 10 exhaust and Gresham & Craven No.11 combination live steam injector...I realise that the workings will be a little different, but are they a similar size body wise?

Pete Pete, I don't know about the bodies really at the moment but if in any way similar to these then I see no reason why we couldn't adopt the same internals for those injectors from these. Adam

With the wife being away for a few days at a vet conference (code name for big piss up) I was able to get stuck into the laptop for a few nights and get cracking on some design work, been a long time since I had a few solid hours a few evenings on the trot to get into it but it has paid off. Following the theme of Injectors I have managed to finish the designs for the Class K Injector Water valves seen on the larger BR locos typically on the 9fs mounted as a pair next to each other. There are two different sizes which both use 3 varying pipe sizes. The small versions are No 8, 9 & 10 and the large for the Exhaust injectors are No. 11, 12 & 13. First up we have the smaller for live steam injectors, these are the two valves in 5" and 7 1/4". Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr And secondly we have the both varieties modelled in 5". I don't have as many details about the larger type so I know its not spot on but its close enough. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr These will be off to the printer this week with some 5" Wakefield lubricator bits amongst a few odds and sods. Mike is over in May so I'm taking the chance to not pay any postage! In the workshop yesterday afternoon (and right now!) and I managed to get the new collector pipe made for the B1 regulator in PB102 this time, no brass in site! Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Time to finish assembling the regulator and smokebox and pop it back on air this afternoon. I am collecting a new gauge glass later in the week on my visit to The Steam Workshop on my trip back from Scotland with work so hopefully I can try steam it next weekend if time allows. Next up will be to finish the design on the K type exhaust injector, I have the model pretty much complete but I'm not happy with the shape of the body so needs reviewing. Adam

Hi Adam.
Those water valves are going to be superb! Please can I order a pair of valves when you have them, together with a K Type and 10X injectors.

Patterns for injectors arrived yesterday so off to foundry today! Also Reg will be glad as the new filter box pattern arrived too, hopefully this one works! Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Also update from weekend on the B1 regulator. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr And lastly Sunday night I finished off the design work on both water valves in both gauges, I realised I missed a couple of features so some tweaks were needed. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr These will go off to Mike later today as after tomorrow I am off on the road with work on my way to Scotland to install the latest project at St Andrews University. Making the most of the trip up and back to visit couple of friends, one at Rugby and then the guys at The Steam Workshop on the way home. Adam

Morning All! Mike sent through some photos of the waxes ready for casting for the above valves, pretty pleased with how they have come out they look promising for when we tool up with master patterns. 58420085_379816495949606_7796344954913030144_n by Adam Cro, on Flickr 58383210_885838008424078_119264013379960832_n by Adam Cro, on Flickr Also did full boiler test on B1 over the weekend, all went well but during test run the regulator flange developed a leak so I agreed with inspector to hold fire on signing paper work and bring it back for another steam up and check in a few weeks when I have sorted it. Cheers guys, really pleased I pushed forward with these as they really will stand out as something special. Once the K type injectors are done it will make a nice little kit for the big BR locos. The prices from the foundry came back on the 10x's and cast in bronze the bodies come out at a really good price so for people just wanting dummies they are much more affordable.
