Well, I think that’s done now, 10 years of learning, pain and much help from many people on this forum, for which I am eternally grateful. Finishing the dome took ages and I’ll put some photos of that part in the cleading topic. Finally putting on the linkage for the drain cocks also took an age and I’m not convinced they have enough travel, but fixing them is a boiler off job and no chance! Here are a couple of images of the complete ensemble, I’ll try and take some better ones with less background clutter but I was keen to share this milestone. uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190827/607b4648cf7fd114b5eb2b056001599f.jpg[/IMG] uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190827/6a782d552aa68478bee5b9f68acd115e.jpg[/IMG] Cheers Q

It certainly looks the part - superb.
I don't know about you, but I often feel a bit of an anticlimax the moment a long term project like this is finished. I suspect the antidote is to plan the next project!
I hope it steams as well as it looks!

What a wonderful achievement, a proud moment indeed. I take my hat off to anyone who sees a project this big through to completion, it takes dogged determination to keep going when things inevitably go wrong. Now you can enjoy the shaking down process with little tweaks and modifications to put the icing on the cake. Well done indeed!

Magnificent, I expect you will get a great deal of enjoyment running it. I would be very proud if I had made anything that looks half as good. You've set the bar for simplyloco! Transporting it will be a bit of a challenge, its obvious now just how big it is when shown against the backdrop of cars in your workshop/garage.

Count me in as well please---------Truly a lovely job, I particularly like the photo taken from the R/H rear.....it feels as if you are the approaching Driver having just "Signed on"....collected the bucket of spanners, oils and clothes and are about to take her "Off shed" and stretch her legs on the main line....
Just a thought for the near future}----- Has any club ever organised a National "Singles" day meeting ???...........That'd be an impressive sight !!

Lovely! Such an elegant loco and you've certainly captured that elegance and done it justice. Ian

You've set the bar for simplyloco! I'm picturing them both right now on our stand: identical twins where it will be hard to tell them apart, I hope! John

A truly regal loco executed beautifully. If I may offer one observation. Your eye is automatically drawn to the injector. Is there any reason it's painted red. If not a touch of black paint would make it much less noticeable. This is by no means a criticism, as I said just an observation on a fine locomotive.

Mike,
You are on the money with that - for some reason I imagined they were red in real life! I had the clacks painted red too but repainted them black when I painted the back head. Touch of black it is 😀 I think I just needed your vocal guidance there Cheers Q
