Invitation to everyone to come along on Saturday May 9th from 10:30 to run on our 2.5, 3.5, 5 or 7.25" gauge tracks.
Our stage 1 extension on the 7.25" is now completed with just a running session required to consildate and then tweak as required.
ALL steam loco's must come with current boiler certificates and insurance certs which I'll be checking on the day. All BE or Petrol engines must bring insurance certs.

Be nice to see you again Pete.
The track gang have been working amazingly hard over the winter. When we started the extension project, we said we weren't going to work in the rain and the snow and the mud and the cold, we said we'd do it when we had the man power, when it was nice, as and when..... bugger me they've only gone and got it done before the first running of the year! That puts us now a good 8 months ahead of schedule - the plan was to have it built and then connect it to the main circuit at the end of this year, ready for next. Now I'm being told, the gang expects to have all of phase 2 laid in by August this year! All it will need will be the points making so that we can connect it in and it will be usable. The points will take some time though, previous ones have all been in 25 x 12 flat bar, but we're moving over to 6lb/yd rail now, so we need all new tooling and all new methods.
If they do get it laid for August, that will be about 2 years ahead of schedule!

Just to enlighten us folk down under, I know about boiler certs but what is the insurance cert? Is this a personal 3rd party liability insurance that each individual member is required to have?
Do the UK club have insurance cover for the public hauling?
Do you have drivers licences like we do?
Just interested.

No driving 'licences' as a UK standard, some clubs have adopted a proficiency scheme.
We belong to the Northern Association as well as the Southern Federation, via the Northern we each get a certificate which is an extension of the clubs liability insurance, and we take that with us when we visit other clubs. With the southern, you have to buy your own additional insurance - at least that's how I understand it.

The sum of £1.40 was so measley that I think they dropped it. Now all in for the club or all out. I imagine that all clubs are all in. D

Shame the southern fed haven't produced a certificate to go with the all in policy to issue to members when they renew their subscriptions? I think the fed became ltd to protect its committee, and not for any improvement.

We've got a couple of caravans booked in to visit us for the weekend now aswell. We don't have any services for caravans, however if you want to come along then I'm sure we can accomodate you, and it might just be possible to provide an electrical hookup.
If you are planning on visiting us, can you please drop Howard our Secretary a line. His email is secretary@rugbymes.co.uk

Current local BBC forecast shows a possibility of rain about 11am....I won't believe it until Saturday though... You would be welcome at Nottingham. 5" or 7.25"? You could probably borrow my 5" truck. To be fair, there's no harm in using the clubs passenger stock...I've used them for driving from many times!
