Getting back to my loco build, Wednesday evenings in the workshop with support from Wilf we have been machining ports in the cylinders and the exhaust passages. 14.12.22 by John The Pump, on Flickr The next job is the transfer passages. John.

Which, given that the port face is at an angle, and the ports are not directly above the cylinders, nor in the middle front to back, will involve some tricky compound angles, different from each end. And the drawings are no help, as these are different castings.

I have often wondered if the model traction engine method would work. The cylinder is bored oversize then the ports are milled into the cylinder wall, finally a liner is pressed in and bored to final size
