That is one solid lump of a machine!!!
The Myford is very nice but at the time they were building them got the parts made in Taiwan to reduce costs. There is one advertised by G and M tools plus vat in model engineer at the moment the new one that has just come.
The current price for the new WM 18 is £1,700 ish. R8 tooling being so much cheaper than MT 3. It comes in a very nice box delivered and you can just plug it in and get milling bits.

Looks like a fine machine. But it appears not to have a quill in the head (perhaps it's there but not obvious). If that is the case, then drilling would be a bit of a pain, as you'd have to wind up the knee for each hole. Wilf Similar fault: I tried a Seig mill, but found it was exceedingly slow to raise/lower the head because (if I remember correctly) it had a worm drive. Very glad I went for an AMADeal AMAT25LV It is virtually the same as this: youtu.be/JQAeDbps3QII agree with Roger that bigger is always better, but if your space is limited, I can’t fault this mill, and mine had pre-fitted DRO on all axes, which makes an unbelievable difference to its usefulness. Top end of your budget maybe, but bear in mind the cost and bother of retro-fitting a DRO unit if you want one later- and you will! Everyone should have one! HTH Gary

I've realised I'm unlikely to be able to convince the delivery chaps to take the mill to my workshop as its round the back of the houses (a car can get in, a lorry probably not).
I'm hoping it breaks down into chunks I'll be able to fit in my boot or I'm in a right pickle.

You may be lucky if the driver can get his pallet truck down there.

You should be OK, when, many years ago my large lathe was delivered, the truck parked on the street, and the driver wheeled it down the drive, about 50 yards or so, on his pallet truck to the garage door. Problems arise if its a) uphill, b) a gravel surface. Beer is a good idea, possibly not iof its a Muslim driver, play this one by ear. A tenner is universally acceptable.

For the MONEY! Take a new sealable polythene bag to a hole in the wall machine. Dial up the amount and as it comes out get the bag ready. Problem solved. China banks washed millions of them in Wuhan! It seems to work.

If you have that problem of delivery to the garage door solved, you are then faced with lifting the milling machine onto a workbench or similar surface. Disassembling it into smaller parts is an option if you don't have mechanical means of lifting.

Thank you.
