One other thing ... I don't now look much like my Avatar but the sentiment expressed there seems ever more present.

We went and set up our stand yesterday. In the past we have set up on the Wednesday but it's always very chaotic with all the big trade stands trying to set up as well! It was really quiet yesterday and we got done a lot quicker and easier. Much less hassle.
The poor little Kia was loaded up to the gunwales with exhibits on the way down. I really noticed it when going up the hills!
I will be on the stand every day as usual if anyone wants to say hello.

I'll probably be wearing a grey myford shirt, and if I've got shorts on (it could happen...) will be pretty obvious by the robot leg.

You're more likely to need thermals Jon! It can get a bit chilly in there at times. Our stand used to be opposite the front entrance and if the doors were open it was freezing! Now we are up in the top right corner opposite RDG and it's a lot warmer there

looks like Noel's free drill sharpening offer will also be off. So no need to lug those 2" MT drill bits to the show
EDIT Free drill sharpening is back on.

I'll try and put some photos on here over the weekend Pete. There were some superb models on display, although some in the exhibition categories were difficult to do justice in a photo due to their position away from the ceiling lights. Perhaps some dedicated lighting for next year?
It was good to chat with John Baguley (that V2 is coming along nicely), Chris Vine and David Scott. It was just nice to be back at a big exhibition and speak with like minded people again. Was pretty busy for a weekday, hopefully that trend continues over the next three days.
Regards,
Dan

Lovely chatting with you Dan. Yes the LIGHTING especially when you try and do justice with a Black Loco like the Twin Sisters. Yes at the Drawing board stage at the moment with others. Just back from 2 days at the Bluebell taking photos of Black Locomotives in varied lighting conditions including driving rain.
David and Lily.
Bank cards will be left at home next year!

I managed to make contact with Chris Vine and Ed plus Family on the Model Engineers Laser stand. I thought it was very well supported with traders and snagged an ER32 collet chuck I'd being eyeing up for a while from RDG saving myself a few quid.

Hi All,
Does anybody have any images to share or links to posted pictures from the exhibition? I couldn't make it this year but from this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhkY8ayS2Zw it looks to have been a fun day out! Would love to see more pictures of the GWR Dean Single. Anybody know who made it and what gauge it is?
Best regards,
Dave

Video demonstrates how thin it all was compared to previous e.g. seats and tables instead of club stands and much more space, but adequate for the average punter and better than expected. Not sure why this is under ME Club Information - there is another thread in the proper place - General Chat.

This one?
Nobody has replied to it for a bit.
Is there a way to merge the threads?

She was built by Alan Crossfield who also did a superb Bulldog and I think a Royal Scott. We met up with him at Maidstone where he was competing with his Large Prairie. Alan won a Gold at Doncaster and I did loads of photos. Several years ago friend Alan Wilson got in touch and I was able to supply a coloured photo by return of the coat of arms. This took weeks of work building them up from etchings. These days a call to other friend Nick Elliot gets you a laser engraved version. We do have a cast aluminium one full size in the house. David and Lily. Nick is currently doing some cabside numbers and parts for 4 Wakefield lubricators.

Very interesting regards the method in recreating the coat of arms in miniature - would love to see that too! It is on my to do list to recreate the Great Eastern device but I planned a digital route (3D scan, clean up in CAD, resin print then lost wax cast (we will see!)). My father also has an aluminium GWR coat of arms that came from the late Ted Martin. Many years ago, I remember Ted telling me that he had it cast for him from a pattern at Swindon works.
Anyway, back on track, do you know who did the other fine single wheeler seen in the video (Midland spinner)? Just realised that if those two locomotives had been left alone closer together, they might have produced a GER P43!
