Shawki
After a previous discussion on hydrostatic lubricators, I was interested to see your lube tank in a picture posted in 13 April. I was expecting to see some sort of metering control on the oil pipes. How do you control the amount of oil going to the cylinders?

Hi Peter , Either in cylinder end or on the oil tank fitting , I drill and tap a 1/8 hole . I use 1/8 " bronze rod , a short piece is tapped and in the centre drill a jet (one can start with ) no 75 drill, make a slot for screw driver and screw in the fitting , this can be replaced with a larger or smaller jet later if required .I am in K.I.S business .I hope this help .

Shawki
Thanks, it does help. Your whole lube system is K.I.S at its best. I approve.

At last , the engine is finished , assembled , serviced and ready for the big day for steam test and certification and trial runs . I Will wait for a good nice day when I can get the boiler inspector at the club . The photos shows the engine on storing trolley , I don't know what happened with the photos with white dots , sorry about that . Attachments:

Thanks Pete , if you look through the thread , I have reported the making of most of the parts . You will not believe that I have two other engine that have been completed a few years ago and have not been steam tested yet and they are , a second Stirling and a second Lion . At the beginning of my hobby life I used to be in a hurry to steam the completed engine but not anymore . Don't get me wrong I will do it soon ;D

Reporting next step , unfortunately NOT successful , I took the engine to the club for steam test but I failed to raise proper fire , at this stage I suspect ash pan / grate problems ,lack of airflow , I will try to improve / increase airflow by modifying these items , Only photos at this stage , videos when it runs , ;D Attachments:

I took the engine to the club Yesterday and the boiler got steam tested and certified , I gave the engine a brief run up and down the track on the siding as the club was very buzzy and I didn't want to cause hold ups for any reason as I experienced some problems like not oiling , some leaks including leaking regulator , these has to be fixed before the next run .

Hi Shawki, That's a lovely video of you loco's run. If mine runs as well as that I will be one very happy chappy. As a matter of interest what do you use as a pipe bender, those pipe runs for the pump are very neatly done. Jim

Thanks guys for the kind words , Jim thanks for your remarks on photobucket , as for the pipe bender , like other tools I use , home made , an aluminum rod with grooves for the common sizes I use , I put it in the vice , mark the bends and bend it using the HI TECH TOOL ;D .

Thanks Shawki you have just given me an idea for a bender. Now to find the bit of aluminium bar I had and put away safely...somewhere
