Funny how a forecast can change..even in 2014....warmest day of the month forecast I think, and the sun's shining today! Yep! Sunny day and just got my washing done and on the line. I'll be there on Saturday. Looking through the above there seems to be no pleasing some. If you don't go out today, it'll be harder tomorrow. This also applies to those business that support our little pass-time both exhibition venues and suppliers. They need us as much as we need them. Also, if you don't go there'll be nothing to moan about next week.

I hope to be there on Saturday... currently have an eye infection which is beginning to clear up so things looking good. I have been once before and loved the place...seemed more in tune with the individual hobbyist unlike places such as Sandown and even ally pally...I mean more friendly. lower key so you could enjoy everything around you rather than have to fight through crowds...I loved it.. Big day for the economy! Alan opened his wallet! The deed is done…. The moving finger writes, and having writ moves on… Then, with much anguish hands it over…. There, that wasn’t so hard was it? Well done Alan! I hope you get off the pc and start using it now!

And another photo to prove grown men do cry! The show opened bang on 10.00am and seemed pretty busy in the morning but tailed off late afternoon. Had a quick look around today but there didn't seem to be so many club stands as in past years? John

Personally I preferred Stoneleigh to this present set-up.................Location ??--Well, there's more to the Midlands than just the Eastern side, and besides a change is as good as a rest I'd say..............I really enjoy my visits to Harrogate precisely because there AREN'T any of my local area clubs there.....It's that DIFFERENCE that makes the difference ( if you see what I mean ??)------- Incidentally it's about 85 miles from Shrewsbury to Leamington or a tad under 100 miles from Oswestry, both towns having an active club and track site...... But this present set up is at the organisers own site which is only about 15 miles from Stonleigh, so its unlikely to go back to Stoneleigh or somewhere else and for me its 170 miles to Harrogate and 85 miles to Sandown Park and for the two clubs I belong to but i do go to both but not every year. These exhibitions are organised and run by commercial businesses and are put on to make money for their business and hopefully to encourage model engineering in one form or another, which in turn helps their sales on the publishing side. Perhaps some people need to start up their own business and exhibition if they are not happy with what is about at the moment, then they can have the venue they want in the area they want..............Perhaps the main hall at the NEC is available?? would that suit??? Me, I am happy with Leamington every year and Harrogate and Sandown every few years, sorry you are not nearer to leamington but then you would not want to go if you were from what you say. You can't please everyone all of the time unfortuneately -------------- well!, that's put me in my place and no mistake LoL ! .........However,I note that Banbury is approx. 25 miles from Leamington so can understand about it being your "Local". But I do wonder how you'd feel if the organisers---(for purely sound economic and good business reasons alone)-- decided to up-sticks and re-locate to the West Midlands, Hmm ??..In this modern world of driving operating costs to the bone, good transport links, a cheap labour pool, etc, etc whose to say it can't happen ??------------To-day I travelled a round trip of 140 miles to attend the show....It was much the same as the last time I came there ie}--- same clubs, same stands, same locations, same queues, higher prices BUT....the club personnel were friendly and helpful, the quality of the stands contents has improved, same locations made it easier to find who and what I wanted, even those long queues seemed to move a wee bit faster, alas nothing much one can do about higher prices !! --- So YES, you can't please everyone all of the time ---- FORTUNATELY I'd say... That way it has scope to continually improve......... Best regards from "Uncle" Hagley..........Oh, almost forgot to say}--- I am retired now but used to run my own self-employed business supplying a contract Engineering service within the Heritage Railway organisation...And great fun it was too..Cheers !!

Well, both my 4x4's are currently running as 4x2's! After experiencing the car park in earlier years,we thought we`d better give it a miss,we pick up our new Honda CV-R 4x sort of 4 next week so thought we`d better not risk our px car. Ray.

Well, both my 4x4's are currently running as 4x2's! My old series 2A 109 LWB turned into one of those once, had just picked the kids up from school when all of a sudden the rear end lifted off the ground as the rear diff seized. No big deal, iirc had to run as a 4x2 for a few weeks awaiting a reconditioned diff... great machines... wish i had never sold mine, had replaced the chassis with a later series 3 as my front section rusted away. bought the chassis home from Enfield in the back of my brother-in-laws van, had to take the doors off and had well over a third hanging out the back... very illegal but we got away with it. Stripped down the old chassis on the road, new chassis was on the drive as I rebuilt it. Wasn't completely straight forward as the new chassis was left hand drive, which meant i had to cut off a number of outriggers and re-weld them the other side, also had to drill and tap the holes for the steering post.. oh and I broke my little finger when the weight of the engine/gearbox shifted with only my finger holding the rope supporting it....fun times... Pete

-------- the security of the models ??------remember those that were actually stolen from the shows I know it was a while back now and the release system has been much improved....Hoo-ray !! Actually this year the security of the models has been downgraded when it comes to removing them at the end of the show. This is the first year I've done our stand but I believe that it used to be the practice that you could not remove an exhibit from the exhibition without a piece of paper that was checked by the 'security' staff when it went out the door. This year it is the stand organisers responsibility to make sure that they are removed by their owners etc. at the end of the day. There's nothing to stop someone walking past a stand, picking up something and just walking out with it. John
