My printer is working beautifully again after a service (something that will be routine maintenance from now on for this fault) so I'm looking forward to doing the prototypes for you.

Won't be long, just sorting the internals and a rough cone layout and it will be ready.
Should be lovely and crisp now you have it sorted!

Wonderful work Adam. It's going to be a real treat to see the finished model!
I gave a talk to a meeting once and some bright spark from the audience piped up that my fittings would never work on the Terriers because they were too small. The only ones I will concede to are the water gauges, which are for exhibition only and will be larger when running the loco. Your fittings are just out-of-this-world. What talented people we have on this site. Ed

No workshop time this weekend even with the wife away - removing fireplace, car in for service/mot, looking after the puppy, tidying around the place with the mess of the builders (they are not in my good books and we are only 1 week in). With any time I had left I spent it in front of the laptop either doing contract work or design work so here is the last entry on the K type design. K Class Final 3 by Adam Cro, on Flickr All the cones are modelled and just need Johns 'OK' when I do the drawings. All the accessories are done and in the assembly and turning jigs are on order and the casting has gone over to Mike for printing. Hopefully the bracket from MEL will be here soon so an evening of silver soldering will be a distraction once I've got back in the workshop and completed some fittings. It's superbowl tonight and I do enjoy sport so I think a late night doing drawings with the TV on is in order with this one to keep me company. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Adam

Nice to see Adam. The 9F regulator handle looks just like the Britannia one that I made the hard way. Perhaps a BR Standard part?

Hi Adam,
It is interesting to look at your recent prints compared to those back in 2015. They seem to be much crisper now. Or is that just me??
Chris.

Hi Norm,
Possibly yes, most likely very similar at least I’ll check some drawings though.
Chris things have improved since then in the way we sprue castings so they burn out the wax better plus the printer is really well tuned in right now producing some really crisp prints.

Yes it does look like the Britannia regulator handle, but the BR drawings of the handle for the 9f regulator, that I have, only lists it for the 9f, not the Brit, and usually if an item was used on more than one class of loco, they were listed on the same drawing so that it didn't get duplicated, so I think there must be some detail that is different. Back in February I posted the below photo of the 9f Injectors on their bracket in 3D CAD form. Hi Adam.
Those injectors look fantastic!!! Please can you put me down for a pair of castings? Are you going to look at supplying the internals for the K-type, as a working injector?......just curious!!
Bob.

Hey Bob,
Thought you'd like the look of it!
At the moment we are waiting for Mike to get set up for producing waxes from moulds and once he is up and running we will be producing the K class so we can offer Dummies at a sensible price. The long term goal will be both supplied fully working.

Evening all, Things are starting to return to normal down in sunny Eastbourne. This is a bit of an update from the last few months showing that I'm almost back in the workshop. Firstly to show I've not just been lazy for 7 months, photos of the house almost complete with a few little decorating jobs left to do - for now. So the main reason for our house extension was to build a new kitchen in the old dining room and make a larger living room with Bi-folding doors opening up for the big garden. Here are a few comparison photos to show the rooms the day we got the keys and now. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Until we can afford the slate hearth and the log burner I have found something to fill the space in the fireplace. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Right! Now to the more important bit, the workshop. This was also extended by around 1.2m to keep it level with the back of the house. Over the last few weeks I've been fitting batons to the exterior walls, filling the space with celotex insulation and then on Friday I fitted the ply. I've added all the new electrics in the walls so keeps it all nice and tidy. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr The ply is 18mm so I can screw things to it in the future. Heavy and the first one was a squeeze to get in on my own but the rest were easy. Wood work never used to be my thing but having done a fair bit during the building work I'm becoming more patient with it and finally turning out some half decent work! Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr by Adam Cro, on Flickr Saturday I got all the sockets on the walls, the sparky is due to come connect it all up and sign off soon once I have the lights complete, I still have the original source to the workshop connected so still have power. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr First thing to go in place is of course the Myford, 3 way socket fitted for lathe, DRO and lamp. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Last job was the first bench to sit under the window so I can admire the view when working. I have this bench quite high so I can work at it both standing and seated at my comfy seat which is great for the posture! Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr The house side of the workshop was started before all of this, the old shelves all cleaned and a quick coat of paint to make things look a lot nicer and the draws up on the wall. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Next job is to get more things into place, finish off the bench and start sorting what will be a loco rack by the front door - the aim is to be able to take 4 locos (2 on top, 2 below) and this includes the newest addition to the fleet in form of a 7 1/4" Black 5....I'm crazy I know! I will finish off by insulating and plying the roof before sorting some new lights. Untitled by Adam Cro, on Flickr Right, work is done so best get to it before my committee meeting to organise re-opening of the club next week for the public! Thanks, Adam

[Snip] That's a great way to make a workshop wall Adam. Decent insulation topped with really rugged ply. Makes it very easy to add shelves, cupboards, benches. I finished mine off with White Timonox (fire-resistant) Emulsion to keep it nice and bright and discourage any brazing accidents. We spend a lot of time in our workshops, so it's worth making them as comfortable as possible. Gary

Thanks Gary,
Yes I did think about painting the walls but A) I thought it would show the dirt a lot quicker and B) I couldn’t be bothered if done enough painting the last few months!
Having already been able fo screw the first bench to batons on the wall I’m pleased I went for the thicker option.
More to come soon.
