I have to say that using Imgur is light and day in comparison to PB, it's so smooth and so far, very easy to use, I'm currently re-arranging the order of the images as they have gotten mixed up a lot over the years, I won't get it all done tonight but it's a very easy thing to do....

Although I opened a Flickr account, I was tempted by Imgur. I've heard some good things about it. I'll have to give it a try.

Your positive experiences with Imgur could well mean a total collapse of PB as users migrate to more user friendly and dare I say, more ethical sites. Certainly from my view point Tapatalk suits me for ease of posting here on this site.

Well, guys, I have just gone through the first 30 pages of my build, all images are now present and correct, I didn't need to update many as most were directly posted to this forum some time ago before space was an issue. Although it will take time I can replace each missing image by right clicking on the broken image to see what it is, find the image on Imgur and replace the broken PB link with the Imgur link. So bare with me guys, it will take some time but I will get there eventually, as far as new updates go it will be business as usual....unless Imgur play the same dirty games that is, something tells me that no other hosting site is going to make that mistake going by the negative feedback being thrown in PB's faces today.....IMHO it's well deserved too

While I haven't posted any images in this site, I have at least 10 different very long and involved stories about restorations that I have done myself over the past 18 years on Land Rovers and more recently involving my 5" gauge NSWGR 32, 99.99% of the images were with PB, so at a guess I will end up with just words on a page, but all is not lost. I had started using Imgur some time back as PB kept bombarding you with adds whilst trying to upload which in turn caused the site to freeze and you either lose or start again, so what I have been doing as all my images are stored in my terrabite device I'm using the PB image number ie "6547" and I find that image then upload it in Imgur then replace it within the respective site, it has taken me approx 4 hours to replace about 200 images in 2 different sites. I can't afford their ransom as the site was free when I started, so it's really of no consequence to me if they pull the plug on my albums as I retained all my images, anyway with a bit of luck I may be able to change some things, but quite a few of the sites don't allow you to alter/modify after a certain time frame eg 1 hr up to 24hrs, one of my blogs has had over 90,000 hits, anyway whatever happens will happen cheers Dennis

hi Bob
So far the links given to share haven't worked for me, not sure why, probably something that I'm missing, what does work and something I used to do on PB when it was playing up is to right-click on the image and select the 'copy image address' option, this has worked for me so far until I can work out what I'm doing wrong...

Something along the lines that Roger and I wrote for Flickr and Photobucket last year. If you do, I will update the "Posting Photos" thread with an extra link to your description. I'm sure Bob would find it useful. Regards, Steve

Hi, Steve.. I'm not really qualified yet as can be seen by my post to Bob above, hopefully, I may learn more over the next few days. The interface is much better than PB, a lot clearer and easier to understand, I haven't worked out what I'm doing yet when linking images but for now as stated above have used the 'right-click' option which seems to work. Re-arranging the images is very easy, you just select the correct tab abd drag the pictures around into the order you want, you can also edit the image, again using a very easy interface. As with PB and others you can drag images into Imgur from your desktop, what did surprise me was the ability to drag hundreds in one go and it did it pretty quick too, PB is to take time even with only a handful of images, I guess this could be to having fewer users than PB? I suspect though that this will change very soon.. cheers Pete

I want to play around with both Flickr and Imgur. Can you give me a pointer to the 'How to' thread, you and Roger did?
Thanks.
Bob.

I've just updated my Castle build with some photos now stored on Imgur.
With the mouse pointer hovering over the immage you want to use, from the "Copy" drop down list (That appears in the top Right) select "Get Share Links" (Note, NOT the "Copy" Button/Icon that is on the Right hand side of the page)
The link to use (out of the four shown) is the "BBCode(forums)" on the bottom left. Click the "COPY" button/icon and the link is automaticaly copied directly to your "Clip board". Now go to your forum page, put the cursor where you want the immage and then "Right click" the mouse and select "Paste".
When you Post or Save Changes, the Immage should appear.
Worked for me. Nick.

Pleased to say I had a positive response back from John Lewis customer services from Emailing my disappointment with them advertising with a company that ransoms its users like PhotoSuckit: and they have passed it to their Head Office for consideration . As I mentioned previously; Hit Photosuckit where it hurts in the pocket On MEM we have a work round and are providing additional storage space for members pictures. $10 a month gives us 48G of storage space between us, if we need it. (You may note it is somewhat cheaper that photosuckit. ) Jo

OK, for anyone that may be looking to use Imgur, I have just added a "howto" in the "Images" section. Quickest way to find it is to open "Posting Photos", the last sticky in General Chat and click the link I have created in there.

Well Photobucket may well regret its grab for cash. The local tabloids are running a story on "How To Kill A Business Overnight..popular image hosting blackmailing customers." I'm not holding my breath.

Good news for anyone like me who had the basic $30 per year 20plus account. That will still opperate as it has been including 3rd party hosting until 31st dec 2018.
Gives time to decide what the best alternative is and not rush into anything.
