Came across this on an Engineering Data site I was looking at and it reminded me of Dave Allens take on the Andrex commercial with a puppy towing a stream of Loo paper
Oh No

And suddenly our neighbour builds his new workshop? Yes and it is 18 inches above the height regulations for up against other property. And there is no way to maintain it on 3 sides!! And it is of brick construction up to 2 feet!! OOPS. OH did I mention the Tree of EPIC PROPORTIONS that constantly sheads leaves into the 9 inch gap between? Ours is treated timber. I never did get to fit the guttering but on our last chat did mention it as he handed me two large water barrels. David and Lily. I have to clear this side the workshops gutters twice a year and we face west.

But a canal boat is a lot easier to shift than a 400m long, 200,000 tonne container ship! Regards, Dan

Requires some "Outside of the box" thinking, perchance ??

The chap stoically resigned to his fate, hands thrust deep into his pockets looks on while the missus tries gamely to restore some semblance of pride and overcome the adversity thrust upon her. The photograph genuinely speaks a thousand words (no doubt a with few anglo saxonisms thrown in). Guy

If they took their hands out of there pockets and helped with the rope on the left they might get some movement on the front

Wonder if there is any tidal variation in the Suez to lift the Ever Given? Can't recall any lock gates. Guy

One of the early news reports mentioned that a high tide was coming in a few days, but I think the time mentioned is now past, and the ship is still there.

Wonder if the Law of Salvage applies in this case? Though I seem to remember the vessel has to have been abandoned for full salvage rights. No doubt LLoyds will be in negotiation with the Dutch salvor.

A VISIT TO THE WHITE HOUSE. NOW if you see what their neighbours have been up to with some spare tins of paint you would err on the WHITE SIDE!!! Yes even the ROOF and carefully selected CARS!!! David and Lily.

By coincidence reread 'The Backyard Foundry' by B Terry Aspin at the weekend. He must have been a prominent Model Engineer of the period I presume? Guy

B Terry Aspin was the cartoonist who drew the "Chuck - the Muddle Engineer" strip that appeared in the Model Engineer in the early 1960s. He built a number of 5"g narrow gauge locos to his own designs, making every part including his castings and the pressure gauges. He published a book about this, based on his Kerr Stuart "Wren" design, called, "The Model Locomotive from Scratch" - it's a good read with many helpful tips and amusing drawings.

By the time I was a young lad of 10 and upwards I was already a dedicated Railway Enthusiast, but it was reading my Father's copies of Model Engineer, and in particular dear old Chuck, that drew me into the hobby.....In those days the ME mag catered for all tastes--- long before all this diversification came along ---------- and I think was much the better for it.. I then took an RN Marine Engineering Apprenticeship and my fate was sealed !!................ Have a look at this}-------- ukcomics.fandom.com/wiki/Terry_Aspin_(1916-2006)
