I think the URL suggestion is a good one, and I have reduced the number of teeth to 18. Although I live in Brighton I come from Oxford, so somehow that gives me permission Anyway, COSME has 17 teeth and mine has 18, so it's a completely different design. I used the gear because I wanted to find a symbol that was clearly mech-engish, but not specific to one genre - we're not all GWR modellers. Plenty here doing stationary engines and probably a few clock people. Even a few strange folk making locos from outside of the Swindon area! If and when a design is agreed, then since this image is a vector graphic I can email a limitlessly scaleable eps file to anyone who wants it for teashirts, flag on lawn, knitting patterns... MM

Hi MM I have also 'karma'd' you for the excellent design. I am a little surprised that someone who professes to be a 'Swindonite' could move forward from 1905 thinking apparently so effortlessly! ;D Still, since Mr Stroudley so cruelly passed on in 1889, us Brightonites could learn a lesson maybe? Although there was a chap called Oliver Bulleid who did a thing or two at Brighton, not to mention the Riddles design team! Cheers Brian

Many thanks Brian Penny's dropped, I thought you were Mr Spurley - South Purley? Living in Larne I didn't have you down as an LBSC man. I must confess that in my pursuit of GWR I have rather ignored SR, which is a shame as not only was Bulleid a very original thinker, I have just rediscovered an interest in Stroudley's Brighton Terriers; nice pics here: dewi.ca/trains/brighton/works.htmlCan you identify the road in the middle right hand pic - New England Road perhaps? Here's a beautiful model from the Reeves website to the Martin Evans design - think I'll add it to the list of 'mini-projects' to do while I build my Castle - ho hum. A nice bonus of doing a Terrier is that there is a good working example up the road at the Bluebell line, and there is the Terrrier Trust as well at Margate. Cheers Matt

Great design myfordmatt, all we need now is some one to organise the order etc and of coarse collect the money as we have approx 600 members we should have NO problems getting a good number to agree to buy, therefor keeping the cost down to a reasonable level
again welldonehope we can get this off the ground P-D-Q (pretty -damn-quick)

The membership is showing at well over 1000 but I suspect there are many duplicates and 'lapsed' members. So far only 26 have voted for these badges so a batch of 100 might be a suitable number and give an idea of cost.
Come on chaps, all those who haven't yet voted, press the button and add to the score.
Cheers
Brian
PS MM I sent you a PM yesterday.

Myford matt, i printed your design on some glossy photo paper this morning, YES IT LOOKS GREAT. when cut out it makes a badge just over 2"" diam., just about right size i thought, my wife informs me our granddaughter recieved a badge making kit as a xmas present i have made arrangments to borrow this, over the weekend, so, i'll have a bash and see what sort of a job i can do of it. I'll post my results on here next week i hpoe

Myford Matt,
That looks like a really artistic design, certainly got my vote! and a karma!!
I am not really sure I approve of this karma stuff, it makes you feel a bit like a god, casting approval (or otherwise) around....
Chris.

OK chaps and chapesses, time to close the thread down and move on to production I think. My view is that anyone should be able to make their own badge provided they use the "authorised" design unchanged.
As a second string I plan to source a manufacturer of a hard enamel version and get suitable quotes from various suppliers and let you know the outcome. I am happy to organise the production and cover the stocking of a supply for despatch to those that want them.
Sound OK to you lot?
Andy

Excellent idea Andy - let me know if you want a 'proper' version of my design, EPS is probably the most flexible print production format.
Cheers

Well done MM! Your design has my vote, even if the colour is an odd shade of GWR and/or Southern green, haha ;D Add my name to the 'wants' list please, Andy. Geoff (in GWRland)
