I have already made one, unless i get an enamel one before HARROGATE i will be sporting it. Nothing very special but thanks for the design MYFORDMATT. As i said before a very good design, at least now i will be recognised as on of the gang.

Guys,
It occurs to suggest that when there is a price for the posh version of the badge there is simple poll for those that are actually up for spending money for one.

I agree with SteveW a pre order poll before anyone commits to something that won't actually be taken up in the enthusiasm initially generated here, seems like a sound idea.(I don't want Andy C spending his hard earned and then sitting on a batch of enamel badges that will only mean something to us).
I am very keen to advertise my allegiance to this fine gathering of like minded souls, but I am not sure I would be comfortable wearing a 2" diameter badge as suggested elsewhere. Could I suggest a more discrete but still distinctive size of around 3/4"? I'm not sure what effect the size has on the price of an item such a this.
The debate continues?
Cheers
Brian

Hy Guys, I had thought that we were already committing ourselves to purchasing badges by voting in Andy's poll, subject to sufficient 'yes' votes being cast to make it a worthwhile proposition. 39 of us have already voted 'yes', and to me that means we have agreed in advance to purchase! I wonder, too, if something could be added to the Member's Bio, so that new members can 'click' on the option to purchase a badge? Andy?? I would personally prefer something between 3/4 inch and an inch diameter. I doubt that the cost of the badge will bankrupt many of us, haha ;D

Hi Steve
Personally I think a badge of 2" (50.8mm) is a little overstated but I will go with whatever the consensus on this site turns out to be.
How does it look? Any chance you could post a picture of you 'modelling' it?
Cheers

Hi Chaps - just waiting for some information by PM then I shall get the quotes. I had in mind a discreet badge of about 25mm but don't have in mind setting another poll up ... but it's an idea!

It needs to be big enough for others to see, perhaps across a hallway, across a stand, and without having to put on their glasses!!
1", or even 25.4mm, is a bit small for that. On the other hand, 2" might be too conspicuous.
Mid way between those could be about right, but whatever size anyone picks, someone will have good reasons for thinking its wrong. lol

Progress update
I have chosen the manufacturer, the size (28mm) and the material (hard enamel). The manufacturer has sent me back the first proof for review and I have returned it with comments (it needed a little work). I await the final proof before committing to production.
They also sent me samples of the various types including soft enamel and printed enamel and it's quite clear that the hard enamel is the right choice for a quality product befitting the membership here!
It makes no sense to get less than 100 off as the unit cost would be crazy. I shall take the commercial risk on the stock.
I expect the cost of the badge to members to be about £3.00 including VAT and postage within the UK and EU.
I have no idea how best to manage ordering/payment in detail, but one of our members has already offered to manage the distribution for us all. I'll keep you all updated on progress.
Cheers

Yes. Thanks Andy for progressing the badge. There must be some way to make the purchase simple and as straightforward as possible, but I am unable to make a suggestion. Maybe someone will have a moments inspiration.
Best wishes

I have always found PayPal to be straightforward, especially for international transactions. The UK non-PayPal members could always send a good old cheque.

Paypal works for me, I use it for as many ebay purchases as I can. I also use it for buying spares for my daughter's Mini. It is very painless and I think it's one of the safest unless you fall for the 'phishing' emails purporting to be from them. As a tip with these type of messages asking you log in and provide your details; simply hover your mouse over the link and check what comes up in the bottom left area of the browser screen. If it doesn't follow the same format as the site supposedly sending it then do not follow it! For paypal or ebay the message, if it's genuine, will have been sent to your account too.
Cheers
