I liked school! OK - I had a couple of advantages:
My parents were teachers - I went to school a couple of years before normal - to sit at the back of my mother's class and play quietly. So I'd work out how to use the educational toys, and figure out the theory behind them.
I say "I", when I should say "we". My twin brother and I were an inseparable pair. So we were immune to bullying - pick a fight with one and you'd have two of us to deal with.
We did have teachers who were war affected. A lovely lady teacher who rode a bicycle with only one pedal going round. And had a car with bullet holes.

You could use them to dispense protective lubricant into the innards after a run.

Some of the best events would be spoiled by the crowds of time-travelling onlookers.

Googling to find pictures - the full size looked straight.

Now that's a thought. Insulated brackets in the parking position, but conductive face on the in-use bracket. The bracket completes the circuit, so acting as the switch.

A chap brought some he'd made (for his Speedy) to the Pumphouse to show us. So it's possible. They looked good (as does everything he brings).

You'll have to figure out how many, and what sort of toolholders you need. I guess they're expensive. I've got my BT30 stuff second hand on ebay.
I use four holders, mostly. One has an edge finder permanently mounted. Then one drill chuck and two ER25 collet holders. The drill chuck is mostly used for centre drills as, with a normal drill in it, I run out of height. The collet holders are much more compact.

I'd be interested to hear the results of your Clupet research - I think the original chap is gone - and don't know who is now doing them.
Jessie has a wide groove with two plain rings in it - so the arrangement must work (although with cast iron pistons specified). We've made some plain cast iron rings in the Pumphouse, and it seemed a lot more straightforward than we had imagined.

I think Jim Ewins got steam up to 954C with radiant superheaters!

Perhaps the idea is to make the mistakes earlier second time round.

With four tubes, I'd vote for sending the steam down one pair, then the other. You'd get the double time in the firebox, but keep the flow speed/scour action/turbulence up.
I've not done any calculations, it's just a hunch.

Is it also right that you don't need an MOT for a truck with a fixed organ?

Clarkson brochure does not show a drawbar option in 3MT - only tang. Illogical.

Part of the "spear point" shape of the end would be to aid the flow around it in the flue, I suppose. But if you're going radiant then any old shape would do, as long as goes down the tube for fitting.

You would definitely want a drawbar. Drilling would be OK with a tang - continuous force holding the taper in, but milling would be frightening.
Could you put a bit of round stock in it, so you can hold in the lathe and turn off the tang and thread it?

Sounds like a foreign object or grit in the spindle. Or - is there a spindle lock at all (as might be used to hold the spindle whilst tightening a chuck)?
